Phase Fix

What does a functional solution to welfare reform FEEL like ?  Something that would get to the root of the issues at hand, and give more freedom to those suffering.  For me, it would feel like more individual options, that are not based on sides of political or religious parties.

Let's start with medical needs, specifically permanent birth control choices for men AND women.  Yes, I'd like to be inclusive to any sexual preferences; most especially bi-sexual or heterosexual individuals, at risk for unhealthy pregnancies.  AKA:  Those who really struggle with physical disabilities and emotional problems, do not have access to the extensive options they need.

As an example:  Speaking as someone with a history of blood clots, "the pill" is not a choice for me.  Also, I am allergic to latex, so that drops "condoms" off the doppler.  A copper IUD might be an option, but insurance does not cover such things.  For some people, tubal ligations and vasectomies are best.

What is the next route ?  How about a non-profit which funds permanent birth control for ladies and gentlemen, with health problems ?   A caring and collaborative organization which can raise funds from health sources, give counseling, pay licensed medical doctors directly whom are selected by the patient, for the services rendered to pre-approved patients in need.  Funds can be ear-marked per patient / health reason, like mental, developmental, or physical safety.

Prevention is always the best medicine.  We can build solutions which empower the weak.  This can be game-changing in stress reduction, enabling a more secure work force.  Gaps fill where victims of abuse become survivors, which reduces drug addiction.  The reduction of drug abuse drops the cost of taxes / emergency responders.  People overall may be generally more healthy, in body and soul.

Let's cross this bridge and respond calmly with this open-door experiment.  Write to your doctors.  Talk to your friends.  No risk, no reward.  This Pro-Active approach may treat this area of our health care crisis.  Living disabled is work, and provides work.  When we have healthier homes, we have healthier people.  The heart of welfare reform can be at that dynamic step, take it.  Thank you for considering the reproductive and sexual rights of the disabled community!
